Emerging Maker Scholarship

I am absolutely delighted to have been awarded a QEST Emerging Maker Scholarship in 2024.

This prestigious scholarship allowed me to continue to study at Bishopsland Educational Trust for a second year. During this time, I focused on continuing to build my practice while challenging myself to push my work forward.

The ability to learn gold alloying was incredible to progress my designs further into precious materials.

About

Caitlin Murphy Maker

I’m an award winning Irish maker who graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2022 with first class honours. I’m a third generation silversmith who has a passion for challenging boundaries through making, creating and designing.

I continued my studies at Bishopsland Educational Trust for two years following my degree, becoming a Bishopsland Fellow. I have since returned to Glasgow, rejoining the Glasgow School of Art as an Artist in Resident.

XYZ Collection

My collection, XYZ, is centred around a high level of accuracy and precision. By folding and working with metal as if it is paper, I achieve unique sculptural pieces.

This was my graduate collection from The Glasgow School of Art which was also shown at New Designers, London and Shine 2022.

Silversmithing Bursary

I have been supported by the South Square Trust throughout my silversmithing career. The Trust supported me during my final year at The Glasgow School of Art and also continued their support during my time at Bishopsland Educational Trust. They kindly agreed to continue their support during my Artist in Residency at Glasgow. The trust’s support has been incredibly helpful to myself and my practice.
